I recently bought the Rock Candy PS3 Wireless Controller. I did get it for my PS3, but I want to use it on my laptop for some of the emulators I play on. You may try to uninstall and reinstall and reinstall the Microsoft Common Controller and see if that helps.

To uninstall a device :

Rock Candy 360 Controller Pc

was playing with my xbox 360 wired controller without problems. Since yesterday it tells me an unknown device is connected whenever I plug in my controller. It then proceeds to install drivers for the so called 'unknown device'.
My controller show up as 'unknown device' in the device manager.
I tried reinstalling, restarting, different usb ports, tested the controller on my xbox (works perfectly normal, so no hardware issue).
when I install the so called 'driver' from the official microsoft hardware page, it only installs some kind of xbox 360 accessory desktop tool but not an actual driver.
this is getting really frustrating as I can't find an answer anywhere, and I really appreciate all the help I can get
